devii ( Sanskrit: देवी; devī ) goddess / root div- 'to shine'

Deeply inspired by dancer Ruth St. Denis's belief that temple dances from India can give spiritual enlightenment, Ganga Devi carefully studied & replicated this pose in Denis's original work of “Radha” 1906. Outfit design: Ganga Devi

Devī was a seed planted in the garden of my heart many years ago. I have watered, tended, pruned and nurtured it with all the love and tools gifted to me. It has been a moving journey to watch each petal blossom into this magnificent flower, where I envision Devī, sitting in its center.

My hope through Devī is to create small pockets of sacred beauty in our world,

through movement and beautiful garments.

Helping widows and children in India, has become a foundational part of my work since 2007. In previous years I had strived to empower women, without work opportunities by hiring them for sewing projects and donating all the proceeds from these projects to sponsoring girl’s education in Vrindavan, India.

Devī Shop continues to value slow fashion with ethical practices, by working closely with families in India and designing unique, one of a kind, handcrafted garments.

My passion has always been teaching Odissi Indian Classical Dance, the medium in which I have found my greatest strength and healing.

I offer Odissi and sacred ritual practices through workshops, retreats and events at Devī Kutir Studio ~ sanctuary of the goddess, where embodying beauty, creativity & joy through movement and ritual are celebrated.
